I absolutely love making soaps, scrubs, nail polish, and really any beauty DIY item so I’m super jazzed about these gorgeous gemstone soaps we’re making today! They are SO easy and the perfect intro to soap making, please don’t let their look fool you. You can create them in any color and use any fragrance oil your heart desires, which means you will be able to perfectly make them fit the theme of your bridal shower or bachelorette party. These cuties would also make terrific little extra bridal party gifts or a nice in-room hotel welcome for your bridesmaids. No matter what you choose to make these gems for, the recipeients will definitely be impressed!

Any Color, Any Scent

These soaps can be made in ANY color combined with ANY fragrance oil… so the sky is the limit! Pink, violet, magenta, gray, white… obviously I had to make blues and turquoises. Looking for extra sparkle? Add glitter!

Cut Up The Soap

This awesome melt + pour soap base from BrambleBerry comes in 1 pound blocks, and this exact gemstone mold will hold 1/2 pound. So using a soap cutter, cut the soap block in half and then slice into smaller pieces for melting. Add to your glass mixing jar.

Melt The Soap

Place the glass mixing jar with soap pieces in the microwave and heat on 30 second bursts until fully melted, stirring in between each. Mine took 3 rounds.

Add The Color

This is my favorite part. Mica is a naturally mined colorant that all beauty products are tinted with, so the same goes for your soap! Start with a Tablespoon of rubbing alcohol in a small glass dish, then add your choice of mica and stir. Mixing the mica with the alcohol first will fully disperse the color in your soap, if you don’t do this step, you’ll just have chunks of powdered color here and there. A typical ratio of alcohol to mica would be 1 Tablespoon alcohol -to- 1 teaspoon mica, however the less mica you add the lighter and more transparent your soaps will be. The more mica you add, the more saturated and opaque your soaps will be!

The mica I used for these soaps was: Mermaid Blue, Stormy Blue, Light Gold, Gold Sparkle, and Fine Iridescent Glitter.

Add The Fragrance

Add your choice of fragrance oil to the melted soap mixture. 3 mL of fragrance oil to the 1/2 pound soap mixture will be perfect. If you’d prefer not to have scent, feel free to not add it!

The fragrance oils I used here are from the Summer Collection Sampler, but you can use any fragrance that sounds good to you! Sampler kits are a great way to purchase the most popular scents.

Pour Your Gems

I found this awesome gemstone ice cube tray on Amazon and thought it would be perfect for these soaps! Pour the melted soap mixture into each mold cavity and then spray with rubbing alcohol, which eliminates all the bubbles from pouring. Let set until fully cool, could be 2-4 hours.

Release Your Gems

Turn the mold upside down and gently release your gorgeous new gemstone soaps from their mold! Way easier than they look, right!?
