One element you simply can’t overlook at your reception is an area designated for your wedding cards and gifts. Creating a fun display for these two items is the perfect opportunity to get creative! You can put this darling DIY card holder together in less than an hour and with our 6 different color signs, there is sure to be one that will fit your theme. Collect your special wedding cards in crafty-chic style… that’s also safe!
A Lock Is Always A Good Idea
I’m not saying that your guests are going to steal your cards, it’s not them I’m concerned about. Most of the time, the gift/card table is in an out of the way area of your reception, for good reason, but that makes your special gifts an easy target for those who don’t love you. Like the wait staff or other people that could potentially be at or around your event. Using this locking mailbox will ensure that your special cards and monetary gifts are safe!
To give the mailbox a stable base, I’m screwing it onto this wood plaque… but first I needed to spray paint it glossy white to match!
Drill A Pilot Hole
Get the mailbox centered on the wood plaque and then mark the hole on the backside with a pencil. Remove the box and drill a small pilot hole at your pencil mark. This will make adding the screw a lot easier!
Attach The Box + Plaque
Attach the mailbox to the wood plaque with a small wood screw. Here I’m using a “driver drill” for both tasks; if you don’t have one, you need one. They do the work of a lightweight drill and power screwdriver all in one, switch out screw heads and drill heads depending on what you need to do!
