Creating your own unique table numbers is one of the easiest ways to incorporate a fun DIY project into your reception tables. They can be easy to create since you normally won’t need to make more than 20 and they make a big impact since each of your guests will see them as they find their seat. Sharing creative table number ideas is actually one of my favorite things to do! From the type you can color yourself, to wine bottle hang tags and this new idea for Hanging Table Number Stands – the sky is the limit when it comes to DIY table numbers. Today’s project can easily be personalized using a few simple items; paint, washi tape and cardstock… and the stand itself can be created to hold different signage throughout your entire event – not just the table numbers!

Make A Notch
Using a sharp craft knife, make a tiny “V” notch in the top of each dowel. This is where the table number twine will hang from.
Drill Your Plaque
To start, make sure you have a drill bit that is the same size as your dowel – in this case it’s 3/8″. Mark the center and drill a hole but don’t drill through the plaque. I’ve set my plaque on top of a scrap piece of wood so that just in case I drill through the plaque, it won’t hit my table.
Sand + Clean Your Wood Pieces
Paint Each Wood Piece + Let Dry
Glue The Dowel To The Base + Touch Up If Needed
Cut A 5″ Piece Of Twine For Each Table Number
Assemble The Table Number Banner
Download my free printable designs at the end of the post and print them onto 8.5″ x 11″ cardstock. Trim around each design. Then add a piece of washi tape to the front of the number card, to meet the black line designs. Flip the card over and add the piece of twine, then cover with another piece of washi tape and trim the excess.
There Are Many Different Ways To Style These Numbers!
Add The Number To Each Stand + Done!
No Stand Needed?
Fun idea: If you’re having large flower arrangements on each table, you could stick the dowel into the arrangement instead of making the base!
