DIY | Perfect Match – Save the Date Invitations

I am completely obsessed with today’s “perfect match” project!!! See, I have a huge thing for mermaids… and so the hubby bought me these awesome HomArt mermaid/neptune matches with blue tips. I loved them so much I refused to use them. Then a while later while shopping around one day, I found a shell matchbox from anther company called Michel Design Works (almost identical matches) with turquoise match tips! OMG – talk about not wanting to use them. So now I had both turquoise and blue tipped, gorgeous long matches. Since I couldn’t bring myself to strike, I had to work them into a project somehow. So today I bring you the “Perfect Match” Save the Date invitation! Both companies make matches with many different color tips, which will make it easy for you to find the right box to fit your wedding color scheme. Another fun thing to mention about today’s project is the new design template I’m sharing below! Today is just loads of fun…

NEW!!! I’ve been thinking about this idea for a while now and I hope that you will share your honest feedback with me. My ultimate goal with Something Turquoise is to make and share DIY wedding tutorials that you, the reader can actually use customize for your wedding. Which is a big task, especially with so many wedding themes. I’ve tried generic downloads and editable downloads (that pose their own issues) and I haven’t been thrilled with either. So, today I am sharing a new idea – a template. Download the template below. Import to your favorite design software and design your invitation within the boundaries of my design boxes. Hopefully this will give everyone the freedom to create a truly unique design, simply based on this idea. Design tips included on the download. Again, please let me know what you think – if you like this template I will definitely create more!

After you’ve downloaded and designed your invite, print onto text weight paper – not heavy cardstock – and cut along the lines. You’ll get two invites per 8.5″ x 11″ paper.

Next cut your 8.5″ x 11″ cover weight carstock down to 3.25″ x 11″. You can get two from each sheet of paper.

Now to score and fold your paper into a “matchbook”. Score at 4.75″ from one end and 1.5″ from the other. This gives you two sides that are 4.75″ and one 1.5″ flap.
