Isn’t DIY Friday just the best? I sure think so… today I’m sharing a fun and awesome twist on wedding reception chairs. Why follow the trend of adding simple Mr & Mrs signs to your chairs when you can make a huge statement and paint them! The best part is that this new, gorgeous Vintage Decor Paint from Martha Stewart Crafts requires NO prep work whatsoever, and is meant for all surfaces. Meaning you can use wood, plastic, fabric, even glass (lol!) chairs and paint them for your wedding in a jiffy. I am beyond obsessed with this idea and hope that you are too…
SUPPLIES:
any chairs you’d like
Martha Stewart Crafts Vintage Decor Paints
Martha Stewart Crafts Vintage Decor Paint Brush
lint-free cloth
ribbons and flowers to decorate
Since the Martha Stewart Crafts Vintage Decor paints literally require no surface prep at all, this tutorial is super simple. Paint, let dry for at least 2 hours – then add another coat. I did two solid coats of paint on each chair and still have paint left in each bottle, so I’m recommending one bottle per chair.
The chalk finish adds a beautiful velvety look that I’m absolutely in love with.
Once completely dry, you can add clear wax to protect your paint and ensure years of the perfect finish. Apply with the vintage decor paints brush and wipe off excess with a lint-free cloth. Two coats is best. More info on the bottle. I used one bottle for both chairs and used up every single drop.
Again, you do not need to use brand new chairs for this project – any chairs will do. Any color paint will do as well. Embellish with ribbon and flowers if you so desire.
