Let’s Eat Cake! You purchased an amazing cake and special cake cutters… but you are going to serve your first piece of cake as Mr & Mrs onto a regular old plate!!?? Don’t do it!!! Make you and your honey a special cake cutting plate that can be kept to eat dessert off for the rest of your happily ever after!
Supplies: porcelain cake plate {aka. salad size plate}, and a Pebeo porcelain paint pen!
I purchased these salad plates from an amazing seller on Ebay called Replacements, LTD. The beauty of this ebay shop is they sell ‘replacements’ for all major China patterns… which means their listings are for single items – like one salad plate! You might even be able to find your exact china pattern! Fantastic service and super safe shipping packaging, I highly recommend.
Start with a clean cake plate. Literally write whatever you want with the porcelain paint pen! Let your design dry for 24 hours, then oven cure your plate at 350* degrees for 35 minutes and let your plate cool down completely in the oven. Your plate will now be top shelf dishwasher safe! That’s it! Cute cake plate done!
Note: this is instruction is specifically for Pebeo Porcelaine Paint, other brands might have other directions – please refer to your product for specific directions.
Keep in mind that this paint is NOT permanent at first!!! If you mess up your design – it is no problem! Simply keep a damp paper towel close, and wipe away the design that you don’t want – see below. If your first coat of paint comes out a little light, carefully retrace your design.
This is also a fantastic gift to make for an engaged friend!
We created this darling cake place below, using the same steps as above, for The Not Wedding that was held in Cape Cod. It was a truly gorgeous event, follow this {link} to see the rest of the amazing day! Image courtesy of Shoreshotz Photography.
