Martha Stewart & Cricut Wedding Collection

It’s not everyday that I can get this jazzed about new craft products! I’m honored to share that Martha Stewart has just released a brand new line of wedding-specific Cricut materials at Michaels!!! Yaaassss! One of the most exciting elements is that the packages, be it iron-on, vinyl, or cardstock – are all mixed materials! Which is exactly what we need for weddings! A little of this and a little of that making creating all your wedding projects super easy… and it wouldn’t be Martha without gorgeous color schemes!

SUPPLIES:

• Cricut® Explore Air™ 2 Special Edition, Martha Stewart Machine Bundle
• Cricut® EasyPress™ 2 Martha Stewart Edition Vanilla, 9″ x 9″
• Cricut Gold Foil Iron-on
• Pretty Fabric
• Scissors

Create In Design Space

The first step is to login to Design Space and start designing your table runner! Click on this link to visit my canvas in Design Space to use my pre-designed cut files, you’ll need to login before you click the link. I used the font Melinda Script for the wording. I created 3 – 11.5″ square text blocks to make the wording of the 3 foot table runner. Prepare your mats and get ready to cut!

Let Your Cricut Work It’s Magic

Don’t forget for iron-on designs the backside of the iron-on should be face up on your mat and you’ll need to click the “mirror-image” button on the cut screen canvas before cutting, otherwise, your iron-on will be backward!

Cut The Fabric

While your Cricut is cutting all the wording, which will take a bit, you can prepare your fabric. I used a simple gray organic cotton. I pre-washed it so that after the iron-on design is added, I can wash it and use it over and over. I cut mine 3′ x 12.5″, which was perfect to run down the front of the sweetheart table.

Frayed Edges

I didn’t want to hem the edges so I simply frayed them. Using my weeding tool, I carefully pulled out strand after strand from all edges of the runner. Then I ironed it with my EasyPress to prepare for the design.

Weed The Designs

Weed, (aka. remove) all the excess iron-on material that isn’t a part of your design. Using the Cricut weeding tools makes the removal of intricate pieces super easy. Watch out for the frilly bits of this font, some of them are very delicate. I actually found it helpful to weed from the right side to avoid some of the frilly pieces pulling up, but your font might be different.

Cut Down

Since we have 3 – 11.5″ square sheets of iron-on wording to add to the runner, cut the protective iron-on film fairly close to the text to make lining them up as easy as possible.

Easy Press Heat + Time Settings

One of my favorite aspects of using the Martha Stewart EasyPress 2 is that Cricut has already created an amazing guide of heat times and heat temperatures for all fabrics and types of iron-on. So if you’re using foil iron-on on 100% cotton like we are here, there is an exact setting for that, which happens to be 295º for 30 seconds, with a cool peel. That’s what I mean by no guesswork. You don’t have to hope that your iron is hot enough or that you’ve held it on the fabric for long enough. Follow this link to find the interactive chart, then simply plug the correct temperature and time per your project into your Easy Press and press away!

Carefully iron all three wording blocks to your fabric runner. Once they’ve cooled, carefully peel the protective layer away from the fabric to reveal your stunning, custom design!

Perfect For Vows

If you’re creating this for a wedding, using your vows would be a wonderful idea! If it’s for Thanksgiving, a saying or scripture about being thankful would be perfect. For Christmas or New Years a holiday song would be fun… and for birthday’s, using the happy birthday song would be terrific!
