Two Minimal Holiday Wedding DIYs
Give me all the hygge vibes, for cozy nights in, for family gatherings and for weddings! These two simple DIYs will give you all the warm and fuzzy, Scandinavian-inspired vibes! The best part of this post is that it’s not only a two-for because I am giving you not one, but two DIY tutorials, but it’s also a two-for because this hanging wreath and minimal candelabra centerpiece are not only perfect for your winter wedding, but they are also perfect to include on/above the table at your family gathering. And, as an added bonus, if you are an avid DIYer you may have most, or even all of the supplies on hand! The only items I didn’t already have were the copper caps, and those are easily available at your local hardware store! So whether you are planning an intimate micro wedding this year or a family dinner you can bring in some simple, minimal and cozy!
SCANDINAVIAN HOLIDAY INSPIRED HANGING WREATH
SUPPLIES:
- garland
- wreath frame
- floral wire
- wire cutters
- 3/4″ copper pipe caps
- glue gun
- leather cord
- flameless candles
MAP SPACING FOR CANDLES
Determine your spacing for the candles on the wreath. This will vary depending on the size of your frame and number of candles. I used 5 candles for a 24″ frame.
GLUE CAPS TO WREATH FRAME
Hot glue caps to the frame. I found it’s easier to apply the glue to the frame. Make sure the direction of the cap is straight.
ATTACH GARLAND TO WREATH FRAME
Using the floral wire, fix the garland to the frame, avoiding fixing any garland where it will impede the candles from inserting into caps.
ATTACH LEATHER CORD
Tie two equal length pieces of leather cord opposite each other to the inside of the wreath frame.
INSERT CANDLES AND HANG!
I advise using flameless candles for this if you are going suspend it over your guests. Turn on the candles insert and hang!
MINIMAL DIY HOLIDAY WEDDING CENTERPIECE
SUPPLIES:
- 2×4 lumber I cut mine to 2ft
- drill
- 1in hole cutting drill bit
- 3/4″ copper fittings
- black paint
- paint brus
- clay
- taper candles
PAINT 2X4
I painted mine in a black paint I had on hand. Any acrylic paint will work. Alternatively, you could use black or natural stain.
MAP OUT YOUR HOLES
Measure and mark for drilling. I used 5 equally spaced candles for a 2ft long board.
DRILL HOLES
Elevate board so you don’t accidentally drill into the surface you are working on. Hold drill as straight up and down as possible and drill holes about 3/4″ deep.
INSERT PIPE
If your holes are not snug, add a little clay to the bottom before inserting pipes and candles.
